Last Thursday the Marlborough Rotary club was visited by the NEADS (Assistance Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans). Christina Rossetti visited the club with four dogs who are in the process of being trained to help combat veterans, disabled Americans and the deaf. The program places specially screened dogs within the prison system to be trained by inmates for a period of time. On weekends the dogs go home with weekend families to get more socialized training. After a rigourous training program and repeat screenings the dogs are placed with the person whose need is best fit by the dog.
